Christmas party night

 Last night was our club Christmas party.  It was lovely to see Amanda again and we hope to see more of her when we meet up next year. The party was tinged with sadness though. We lost one of our long standing members. Craig was a talented carver and always made the time to talk to fellow carvers. Craig passed away at the weekend and our deepest condolences are sent to his family.  Congratulations to Mick. He won the trophy this year. Club members have a secret ballot to choose their favourite from those on display.  It was a tough choice as all the carvings were great. Club will meet back up on Tuesday 6th January from 7pm until 9pm.  Newcomers are always very welcome to come along for a visit.

Great for your mental health

 It was lovely to see Eddie back at the club on Tuesday.  Our club has got to be the friendliest of clubs. The topics of conversation frequently have absolutely nothing to do with woodcarving.   George,  Jim and Cherie have a little garden challenge going and plants are swapped on a regular basis. Next year they're planning on growing Black Russian tomatoes to see who can produce the heaviest tomato. If fun friendly clubs are your thing you'd be made very welcome.  And you'd actually manage to get some carving done amidst all the chit-chat chat and banter

A good night at club tonight

 It was nice to see some potential new club members tonight. They'd come along after reading about us in a local magazine. We've had a few newcomers these past few months. It's good to see younger people showing an interest.

Welcome new members

 Last night we gained two new members. A smashing young couple came along and made a really good start on their first carving. It's great to see younger people coming along.  As ever , if anyone fancies coming along to meet us all and see whether carving is something you'd like to try you will be made very welcome.

Club members current WIP

Sometimes I think more time is spent chatting than carving for a few of our club members and it makes for a fun evening. Every topic under the sun is discussed.... even carving occasionally. Here's a few projects currently being worked on by club members though I'm surprised any carving actually gets done on a club night.
